Birthday Quiz

Today is my birthday :-)

I'm relaxing at home after four nights in London. It was wet, I was ill, not the best holiday I've ever had (or the worst either for that matter)

I visited I Knit's new shop for the first time and stayed all day (and some of the evening), I bought myself a set of Barbara Walker books, and a drop spindle on Saturday.
I got to meet the Harlot on Friday morning, went out for a meal with Jane Sowerby, dried my shoes with a hair drier, went down to reception in my jp's at 9pm on Satuday after the fire alarm went off in my hotel (some lovely soul was having a smoke in their room... grrr), sat on two very busy trains on the way home yesterday.

And I have a two question competition for you !!

This is Victoria Station, I was there just after 10 am yesterday morning.

A beter clock shot.

Question One:

What time was it when I got to Paddington Station ?

I didn't go the most direct route, and I did get distracted on the way. I was pulling my bag along behind me...

The only clue I will give is that I caught my train at 13.27

And Question two:

Where were these bottles left ?
It is somewhere posh (as you would expect) and I'd heard of the shops on either side of the road.

If anyone does get the name of the shop right they will have a special prize, for thosse not near London try the name of the street...

Random number selection will come into play if there are mutliple correct answers.

To enter leave a comment by Saturday 20th, answers will be published on the 21st.
I'm not sure what the prizes will be yet, probably something from the stash wardrobe ;-)

visits

Last weekend I went on an adventure.
If I had been a little bit quicker taking this photo the bridge would have been open...
But I wasn't and the tall boat was nowhere near it when I got to the side of the Thames.

And the reason why I was slow was because I was looking at the thirteen towers that make up the Tower of London.

The well recognised middle bit houses a lot of guns and things that caused many injuries...

We spoke to several Beefeaters (did you know that there are 35 of them?) And arrived just as a tour started, very entertaining and informative. (there is talk that they will have to cut all the jokes soon - bad news..)

And on Sunday I went to see a knitting friend.

Punk was pleased to see some friends as well...

I managed not to get too wet whilst away, or since I've been home for that matter.

I do hope it starts to get a bit drier soon the land cant cope with much more rain.

And now I really must do some of the aran jumper - I have a horrid feeling that I will have to unpick the sleeves to have enough yarn....

Why I could never be part of the paparazzi

I walked the streets of London on Sunday morning - they were not paved with gold but drizzle and I took rather a lot of photos - I never realised that Bush House (home of the BBC) was so large, I kept on finding different wings...

But I did manage to find somewhere good to stand to watch the parade of veterans.

I was near Bird Cage Walk and had the opportunity to take picture of the Royals as they went past...

The Duke of Kent was in this car...

And looking at detail - that is Princess Anne's nose !! She did wave and smile at me on her way back ....

I've no idea who was in this one... probably Prince Charles - I'm most proud of this - I couldn't have got it better for missing someone if I tried !!

And the Queen - by this time I realised that my timing was not good, the lady next to me was better. And the police man who had been standing in the road since 9am was told to watch out for me as I was taking number plates - Queen's car doesn't have one by the way !!

And once the Royals were all in Whitehall the road was blocked to stop undesirables from driving in...
These two were amazing with how they moved their forklifts at speed without hitting anything..

And then the Queen went home...

Decided not to try and take any more moving car photos...

Some Scottish soldiers - dont know what regiment they were, but I felt very sorry for the ones in kilts - the wind was blowing very cold !!

And I dont think I have to tell you who these are - they got some of the loudest clapping !!

It was an amazing morning, and I'm already thinking that I might go to next year's, which considering how much I get scared in the 'big city' says how much I enjoyed it !

And the Stitch n Bitch day was good - It was busy, I talked a lot (more than usual !!) and by the end of the day I nearly had no voice left. My haul from the day was - two patterns, one magazine, one book and one ball of hemp - see how good I can be when I try !!
