Meme

I've been tagged by Jill and even though I dont usually do memes I've decided to play along before someone else tags me !!

The Rules:

Rules are posted at the beginning. At the end of the post, the player then tags 6 people and posts their names. Then the player goes to the "named" people's blogs and leaves a comment, letting them know they've been tagged and asking them to read your blog. If you've been tagged, you do the same, letting the person who tagged you know when you've posted your answer.
Your answer of course, is the answer to the following questions. Here we go!

1. What was I doing 10 years ago?
I was just coming to the end of my year long divorce, not the best time of my life. I was working in Exeter for a company dealing with garage forecourts - there was a limit to how many times you can explain to someone who doesn't speak English that petrol pumps and tills need electricity to run...

2. What are 5 things on my to-do list today? Block two shawls, design something using 30g of yarn, visit next door (it's her birthday), do another load of washing, catch up on things from the weekend away, hoover (dust bunnies taking over), if it wasn't so wet outside I would try and clear some of the weeds that are taking over in the garden - a quiet day !!

3. Snacks I enjoy: Chocolate (goes without saying), occasionally cake & biscuits...

4. Places I've lived: Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester,Plymouth, Exeter, a couple of villages on Dartmoor, deepest Herefordshire...

5. Things I would do if I were a billionaire: buy a cottage in the Highlands of Scotland, help friends pay off their debts, give more to charity, tour USA, Canada and Australia, buy a ladybird spinning wheel. And get a housekeeper to clean the house, cook the occasional meal and organise me !!

Rules say I have to tag 6 people now so hope you’ll pay along:
I've seen so many version of this in the last few days so I'm not tagging anyone, but if you want to play along take this version (American version gives you a billion to play with instead of a million...)

Now were they the answers you expected to see ? And yes I have moved around a lot (mainly on the west of the country) And contray to popular belief I dont just sit and knit all day ;-)

Wednesday Wye

I went to the vets again today, which meant another view of the river...

More tablets for the boy, he is putting on weight but his thyroid levels are still off the scale...

In Ross by the river side...

This chap was not a canoe, but had just been for a swim to get his ball...

His humans were trying to get him to come away from the river, but he stayed there long enough for a 'where have they gone photo'

And up stream looked like this,

Very green and no sight of the yellow stuff (it's going to seed and I'm hoping they will cut soon!!)

The Riverside Inn had been painted - notice they have even painted the shed to match!!!

And do you know were I parked the car ?

I'm off up North tomorrow - missing Eurovision for something far better/worse the Osmonds 50th Anniversary tour - that means that I was minus eight when they started !!

And who knows next week I might actually be able to show some knitting or spinning... it does depend on the 'p*** up in the brewery' situation that has taken up most of my time for the last two weeks... things are improving, hopefully next week they might know what beer is .... or rather they will do ;-)

Wednesday Wye

If you drive down the A40 just past Ross Labels there is a lay by going down the hill...

I thought it was good place to stop to take some photos... A good view but not easy to drive away, good job my car picks up speed really well !!

For the wildlife spotters there is a swan on the river...

And there hasn't been much rain recently...

More of that evil yellow stuff - it is everywhere I'm hoping that it will be harvested soon and then I can walk outside my front door without sneezing !!!

Last weekend

I was in Rutland.

There was a painted organ in the church

And a clematis in the churchyard.

We went through Uppingham twice, and wanted to stop here....

Unfortunately it was Sunday :-(

But that was probably for the best ;-)

If you are passing it looks a great shop and it is next door to Somerfield - good to know so you dont end up walking right round the village to end up back where you parked the car !

Wednesday Wye

The river (and sheep in the very background)

I dont know what the 4x4's were doing in the distance..... didn't like to get any closer to ask !

And I thought some might like to see the colour of the fields round here - and there are a lot of them, and the smell :-( I think I would rather have chicken muck - at least that doesn't make me sneeze !!

And the stupid thing I did this week ..
I borrowed Gone with the Wind, I was told it was on two dvd's but there was only one in the box - I put it in the machine and settled down with my lace knitting. To be fair I wasn't really watching more listening - I was a bit confused with the story, they were mentioning things that I couldn't remember seeing/hearing.. Then I got to the bits with the quotes I'd heard - good thought me I'll get to know what happens after he walks out...
Now I had been watching for two hours, I pressed the menu button and saw 'side b'
So I did what anyone who has never sat through the whole four hours - I turned the dvd over and watched the first half !!! It did make a bit of sense but I really wanted to know what happened after he walked away ....

Lace knitting is growing slowly, I'm hoping that I can have a clicking day tomorrow and get nearer the end....

Distractions

It goes without saying that I'm a bit bonkers...

Some may know that I joined the Sock Pentathlon - five sock patterns released on the first of a month and then speed knitted ...

This month the pattern was released at 1am yesterday.

Now I dont do morning.. as I started about 9am and this was last night.. heels both turned

And this was the result about twenty minutes ago...

I was fifteenth to finish (last time I was 34th)

Pattern is called Berlin Munster

(Knitwitches sock yarn - bad photo !!)

And this is what I should have been knitting.. another Silken Leaves shawl.

And I have a horrible feeling it might need to be finished by the end of the week (whoops)

That is 1.5 knitting, and not much yarn used...

Yarn is a much nicer colour, but it is getting dark...

Questions

Does anyone know of an interesting place two knitters can charity shop between Brum and Rutland ?

We are off for a weekend of intense discussions so will need some light relief on the way. So far my thoughts are Leamington Spa, and maybe Melton Mowbray (is it just full of pie shops ?) or there is Market Harborough, Oakham and Stamford... any help will be gratefully received.

And now that Wonderwool is over for another year, is there any members of KCG who would be willing to offer a couple of hours of their time to help on the stand at Woolfest. I can offer flapjacks and looking after shopping bags in return ;-)

And whoever said that the countryside is a quiet place to be hasn't been here today !
I have found out that when sheep are moved into new fields they make big noise. When sheep go through the sheep dip (to stop nasties getting their feet) they make big noise - put the two together and the noise is amazing - you can hardly hear yourself think in the garden ...

And a note - the sheep are not in my garden but the slope behind the house. I have offered to go and sing to them to see if that would calm them down but I think it would make them worse ;-)
