what colour is yours ?

I seem to be going through a colour phase....
After the purple shawl I have been working on a few other things...

Remember that cream cashmerino yarn I got at Skipnorth ?

Well it isn't cream any more, or still on the cone.. This is Debbie Bliss jacket from 25th Vogue.

Only another 16 rows left for the bottom piece, only 270 stitches now (cast on 428..)

And then there are the socks I have on the needle...

Not sure it was such a good idea to knit from both ends of the ball, but I'm not stopping now !!

Cast on was the same as for Jacobean socks, the rest is plain knit...

I do still have Daffy on the needle, she has 600 stitches at the moment, 70 rounds to go, I'm hoping to finish her for Wonderwool...

And for Rosie - see I wasn't lying about the name of the 'pumping out company'....

They are doing work on the church steeple and this is just down the lane for the workmen...

They grow strawberries round here...

There are 'issues' with the amount of polytunnels.

This is one half of the field...

And the other - you can see the 4x4 in both photos so you can judge the full size..

And what a lovely view there will be once the covers go up...

And this is a new haven for knitters in Hereford..

The Small Gallery, (they will be at Wonderwool as well...)

A wicked selection of yarns, which I cant remember (sorry)

And they also had some of Purlescence's competition pieces from Alice in Wonderland.

And interesting crafty things....

Not open on a Monday or Tuesday but are the rest of the week, well worth a visit.

And a few photos of the flowers in church - these are some of mine, notice they are on the floor ...

My first arrangement at the end of last year, caused major problems - put someone in hospital - long story, but after physio he is now on the mend...

It wasn't my fault, or his but the person who knocked into the vase - the funeral was not interrupted by the ambulance...

And the font was fully decorated in all it's Easter glory...

There must be something in the water, as my neighbour is the person responsible !!

Lambs, chickens (with seeds) and ducks were (and still are) everywhere...

And as for the eggs, you can just see where I put one of them on the left....

And now I'm off to do some knitting, I wonder what colour it will be .......

Seriously ffgorgeous

At last I've finished the purple shawl.

Here is it blocking, made with seriously gorgeous silk from knitwitches.

The yarn will be on sale at Wonderwool at the end of April...

And the shawl will be on view there as well..

A close up of the lace pattern - which will also be on sale through Knitwitches...

A drapey shot - it was a lovely knit, and all this was from one hank...

And the bottom point....

And some of the other yarn that Eirwen is going to be selling - words cannot describe how this feels - cashmere and silk mix...

I'm a very lucky girl as I've got enough for a jumper...

The colour is deeper, more greener...

And it got cat approval :-)

Not sure what pattern I will choose, it will have to be something suitable that shows off the yarn to it's full gorgeous-ness.

And the ff's in the title - I think the yarn needs at least one f, but as it is Welsh they always have two !!

Wednesday Wye

There is a rabbit in the field (honest!)

And there is an Italian Church - Cant remember why it was built but there was a good reason...

Most of the other churches round and about look English (or Welsh )

And I have a new playmate...

On the plant outside my kitchen window, for the last three days, this little fellow has been there everytime I've looked....

The plant is looking a bit eaten !

Tomorrow will see photos of the long awaited gorgeous shawl...

Wednesday Wye

Woo Hoo I remembered !!!

The river has been up for most of the week - result of rain in Wales, but it has dropped again..

And a picture for Kate...

I wasn't going to get any closer (for obvious reasons)

These are in a field by the river and the first thing you see when you pass the village sign (the village actual is another mile up the lane...)

And this is where I was at the weekend - Powis Castle, and those are rhododendrons in flower (dont they know it is only mid March ? )

And the next post will have some knitting content - I've nearly finished a gorgeous shawl and daffy is growing slowly...

OMG I've just 'found' Batman on BBC4, guess what I'll be humming tunelessly for the rest of the night....

Do you ever get the feeling...

That you should just stay in bed and do nothing and that would be more productive than trying anything ??

I think the blurrr mood has reached me... I cant settle, I cant even concentrate on plain socks.

I tried sewing together a sheep this morning - he had one arm attached, he now is armless.. I did have a brilliant (though I say it myself) card for Baba but I've misplaced it.. so that will have to wait until Monday to be posted.... I'm sure he wont mind a short delay as he kept us all waiting !

I want/need a jumper but cant even decide on a pattern - I have decided that the cashmerino I got last weekend is probably not the best colour for me (cream) so I'm going to attempt to dye it next week - I do know it's intended pattern (small progress).

I've been having a clear out of material and more unwanted yarn. Later I'm off to Mid Wales to rehome it (do not fear my stash wardrode is still overflowing with goodies, if only it would tell me what it wants to be...)

Tomorrow I will mostly be watching the rugby with friends, I do hope that a good shout will sort me out, otherwise I will be forced to do some major clear up type housework on my return...

Who knows by the end of Easter I might even have visible floors and a dining room table... (steady!!)
And the 'resting' rose arch might be rebuilt (I think it needs replacing, the bit that was left in the ground looks very rotten..) And as for the shed with no felt on the roof, I feel a rather large bonfire coming on... Maybe that will prompt me to plant some seeds (no still haven't got seed
spuds...)

I promise that I will try and be more positive on the next posting - dont worry if it takes a while to appear I might be missing in action.... or just hiding in bed.....

Skipnorth 08

For the first time in three years I managed to take photos of the hostel !!

This is the inside of the front door...

It must have been an amazing place before it was all divided up...

A Pete action shot...

We had just come back from our Saturday shop and there were bags of yarn all over the floor.. Pete does like a suck on yarn and the poor lad didn't know which way to crawl !!

If he'd have turned round this is what he would have seen....

Knitters and yarn everywhere...

Someone bought a jumper from the KCG yarn mountain...

It nearly fitted....

Good luck to her when she cuts the bottom off to reclaim the yarn for the sleeves (it was a very strange design - but alpaca and for £5...)

Some people didn't want to put their purchases down - I think she was pleased with the number of skinny (technical term) cones of yarn I introduced her to...

I also think she won the 'most yarn for least price' competition...

On Monday morning I took Tut Mut for a walk to wake us up..

There is a suspension bridge going over the river - if you jump up and down on it (especially in the rain) it moves lots - I let her play on it before I ran over...

This confused us.

This is a church carpark.

There was no bull to be seen....

And this is what I came home with ...

From Coldspring Mills.

All cashmerino aran - enough for a jumper.. half price bargain...

These came from KCG yarn mountain...

And cost £1 each... hard to believe..

The pale blue is very skinny 1.5 kg

Red a bit thicker - probably cobweb 700g

And the turquoise cobweb 570g.

I do know what some of them are going to be but it will take a while..

Also from KCG some books

The Anna magazines were also £1 each and most of them have Neibling shawl patterns in...

And from Winghams, some different things to spin.

And one of my best bargain finds - a cone of thin alpaca for £15..

I am really sorry to all those I infected - mine is nearly gone and the olbas oil is beginning to smell again !!

Wednesday Wye

Sorry for the gap & delay, life was not good to me last week, and this week a productive cold has taken hold...

Last week I was told to keep busy...
So I cast this on, only two days worth of knitting here - it is the daffodil tea shawl by Marianne Kinzel. A very pale yellow colour that will probably be dyed when finished...

And the first socks from the pentathlon, Jacobean.

The choice of yarn was not good to show the pattern but it is very spring-like. Greengage by Silkwood.

I think I finished 37 out of all the contestants, not bad considering I was out for the first two days of knitting.

I did manage to knit both socks together with magic loop - so much easier than having to count ...

And a picture for Anne.

This is the first time I have got this type of orchid to reflower - there are another 4 spikes in bud...

I'm off to Skipnorth tomorrow - I do hope my cold has turned by then. Please be gentle with me in the workshops and I do hope that I keep my germs to myself...

I'll be the one with the red nose and a box of tissues to hand !!
