Warm Legs (at last)

Blogger has decided after too many attempts to upload photos :-)

German Stockings by Cookie A

I forgot to check my seams :-)

And I have enough yarn over from the two balls to make some 'ordinary' sized socks

And I was being silly with my feet

Thanks to Anne for taking the photos and to the Green Cafe for the tiled floor...

Now I have to decide whether my next pair of socks are going to be long or short... but before then I have some lace to knit ...

men in uniform

People that have seen me in action at shows know that I will stop anyone passing if they can knit..

Please if you do see me in action dont ask if I have a thing about men in uniform (especially if they are a very dishy medic and I am still trying to talk to them....)

Yes, I did go red, and so did he - and I didn't get to find out if he could knit....

And no, I dont have a thing about men in uniform as a general rule, but rules are made to be broken..

We had another talkative day at the show. I supported Silkwood by buying a couple of socks (or rather the makings of..)

And now I'm going to try and see how fast I can knit a sock in readiness for the sock pentathlon that starts at the begining of March, 5 pairs of socks, two months to knit each, and points awarded for how quickly you can post completed photos on line - see group on Ravelry if you are interested in joining me - all patterns are free and you get to keep your socks (bonus !!)

Nice things

After an exhausting week I did have some nice parcels to take my mind off a horrid exam....

Mermaid has arrived, but is impossible to photo without glares on the packaging, so you will have a long wait before you see her....

I was feeling down and heard a calling from far across the water...
These came from here

Service was brill (ordered the same day as something from UK that still hasn't arrived...)

It was a wicked parcel, (colour of the green lace)

I dont often do patterned socks but thought I would try some from Cookie...

And they do sock blockers - with sheep on !!!!

The socks are a very bad misdye of Popsicle Jitterbug.

I was knitting them last weekend at Get Knitted.

And to prove I dont look good in photos here is my leg (with sock... ) I was the one that tried to teach the Lordmayor to knit

Socks are going to be given to a neighbour to spread some cheer.....

And there has been some spinning.
Top is a Gotland and Leicester Longwool mixture.

And the bottom is some of the fleece I got a Wonderwool, I'm impressed with it, it's nearly like 'proper' yarn !!!

And I joined the mystery shawl group
This is clue one, I've got a lot of catch up to do, clue four was posted yesterday.

I'm still in the middle of unbloggable main knitting, and I've got to play catch up on coursework before I go on my big adventure next weekend..... Taking some needed time out in the Lakes before meeting lots of people at Woolfest - I will be on the Knitting and Crochet Guild stand on the Saturday morning, come and say hello - and if I ask you to hold a postcard of Loopy please humour me !!!

Raining socks

It has been raining, so much that my pond is overflowing, the fish dont like the extra water and have been hiding at the bottom...
This was an interesting cloud from a few days ago - looks like someone swinging from the bottom....

Anyone with cats will tell you that there are days when you shouldn't try and take photos....
No sooner had a put the socks down he was there.... after several throws on the floor I did manage a cat free photo....

Jaywalkers in Opal ( i think, ball band long gone...)

This is the truer colour.
And it is the last pair of Jaywalkers I'm doing, I've decided I dont like the pattern that much...

And these are toe up, very strange wool, no repeats on colour..
I was knitting from the inside of the ball and kept on pulling loads out just to see if I could get back to the orange of the first toe... still no sign of it... oh well just one of those things, good job I dont do matching ;-)

And finally the last pair since my last post.

Top down this time, Nickerjac colour Bruised Ego.

And I think I've got enough left to do a short toe up pair...

Things I have learnt this week:

I can do a crochet provisional cast on and manage to undo later - this has taken a few attempts but now sorted !!

My stash reduction of sock yarn isn't going as well as it should be, I've worked out I can get two pairs out of most of my hanks....

Sock knitting is good when you cant concentrate....

There are five stages of dying and anything between 3 and 7 stages of grieving. Thankfully I got my assignment done in time, just the exam in a month and then I can stop thinking of depressing things....

I dont get that many strange looks when I ask people at keep fit if I can measure the length of their feet... Please can someone tell me what length a size 39 is ? I'm a bit confused on this, size 5 & size 6 were both coming out as 9 inches, and I dont think my feet have grown ....

And hopefully my head will be back to it's usual state soon (all that listening to death and grieving was not good...) If anyone is expecting emails from me they will be there at some point soon...

And to cheer me up I'm going to Wonderwool on Sunday and meeting up with two of the most enabling people I know... I have a feeling that my lack of buying yarn might change, but if you do see us please dont encourage them too much....
