Best laid plans....

I thought my plan for visiting people on the way up to Skipnorth was going well, an afternoon at Colinette, with an evening with friends. Then visiting family and friends the following day, with then a short drive (relatively) to Yorkshire on Friday.

Sounded like a brilliant plan, seeing all the people I needed to in one hit. But the best laid plans and all that - a very old family friend has been ill for ages and it seems that he will not last much longer. So last night was more talk of funerals and what his wife needs to do when things happen. It also means I might not get to go out with her for lunch, but might end up at a hospital bedside instead, or doing more talking to undertakers. With a bit of luck the timings will work and it wont mess up Skipnorth weekend, but I do have a feeling that I will have to go up to Liverpool for a second visit very soon after the first.

When I started my Death and Dying course I didn't realise that I would have to do so much practical stuff as well as my course work (if only I could get marks for it as well as my assignments...) So think of me this week trying to write my next essay on the not nice subject of euthanasia whilst remembering the past happy times and those who are no longer around to remember it with me.

And some good plans, so I dont end up depressing everyone out there too much... the Sues are off to Woolfest, I've managed to remember to phone the youth hostel and book our beds, so there is nothing stopping us now !!! Yippeee :-))

Cider for Rosie

For Skipnorth I decided that Rosie should have some Old Rosie to drink, I hope she likes it and that she realises that it doesn't have to be drunk until November next year - and the chances of it lasting that long are !!!!
(Sorry photo is blurred in a shrink wrapped way)

Saturday Sky

I got fed up with the last few minutes of the Scotland Italy match so went outside to take a sky picture. By the time I came back in another try had been scored :-(

I've grabbed a quick tea and am about to watch England Ireland, and then France Wales later..

I'm hoping that I can manage not to drop any stitches in all the excitement !!

I'm probably going to be a bit quiet soon, got two courses running in parallel for a while and need to do two assignments in the next week... I've also got a lot of knitting to do for others...
So no pressure then ;-)

Books & boxes...

The fog on Saturday was not just local it continued all the way to Chipping Norton - and Broadway was the worse, there is a really good view from the top but it was hard to even see the road !!

We continued with the clear out, the loft that didn't look like it had much stuff to move contained boxes and boxes of books and old clothes... There was a small bedroom that also had lots of boxes of books and old clothes...

We found an empty book bank in Chipping Norton, by Sunday lunchtime it was full !!

If you are ever visiting Chippy drive to Whichford and go to the Norman Knight it will be well worth the drive. Well kept beer (some brewed out the back) and wicked food, words cant describe the sticky toffee pudding ;-)

I managed to get home last night (with a slight detour, must concentrate more... think it was a North/South problem this time instead of my usual East/West)
I slept better than I have done for weeks, but I still feel tired, so I'm planning another early night and then I might be more 'normal' tomorrow... and I might even be able to do some knitting.....

Saturday Sky

One of the things about living in a valley is that we get fog...

This is a neighbour's walnut tree with early morning fog...

I'm off (as soon as I get myself organised) to the place without water and heating....

Hopefully we can work like women possessed and finish the clear out in the next two days, wish us luck....

I hope everyone has a productive weekend, show me what you've knitted - as I wont be able to knit a stitch until I get home late Sunday night :-(

Flying off the needles...

First, a Tina Shawl update, only two more repeats until I pick up stitches for the borders, so this is the last time you will see this until it is completed - gathered knitting does not make for good photos !!

Back of Aran is now completed.

As I used different yarn to the pattern and didn't check my tension before I started (bad girl!!) I'm going to have to play on the sleeve shaping so it may take a little while to complete the rest...

Two head warmers started last night and finished this morning !!!

The blue & white is based on this I used some aran weight doubled and it came out bigger then it should so I only did 4 reapeats and not the 5 in the pattern.

The other is one of these and it is huge !! So I'm going to put two buttons on it so it can be adjusted.... Made with Colinette Prism.

A nice thick jumper for me taken from the latest Simply knitting. The pattern is for a cardi but as I wanted a jumper I did two backs (and two sleeves!!) Using Freedom chunky from stash and I only ran out of the varigated for two rows of the neck !!

And then we have a yoga mat bag.

This was going to be a Christmas present for a friend, and is now going to be a two weeks late birthday present !!

Pattern was made up as I went a long, it has a crocheted bottom and a very long icord ...

Close up of the cable pattern...

All knitted from stash and two completed for me, so that only leaves another two things before I can buy yarn !!!

Knitting photos are going to be few for a little while, house clearing (not mine !!) OU assignments for two courses (yes I know I'm mad !!) and some rather large knitting that cannot be shown are going to be keeping me amused and the lambing is going well but I dont want to show until the birth is completed....

Saturday Sky

The view at lunchtime.

Still lots of snow, apparently, according to the postman, there were lots of cars left at the road side between here and Hereford last night...

I was sensible girl and stayed in and knitted, and was even more sensible by doing lots of study today !

I've not managed to finish anything but I have started something else from the Vogue shawl book... and you wont 'baaa-leave' it when it's finished...

The plan is to go to the Cotswolds next weekend when hopefully we will just have rain to deal with... apart from the lack of running water, no heating and a loft to empty by ourselves...

And there's more....

I thought the snow was meant to have moved further north today, but it is coming down even heavier today.

And look what I managed to snap as it went past, a gritter !!! I didn't realise that they came this way...

And now I'm going to knit and keep warm. We decided that house clearing can wait until next weekend, so I'm staying inside watching the weather from behind glass....

All White...

I'm so glad I didn't have to go out today !

This is my front garden, and the only footprints are from the boys and the birds...

If I had gone outside in the back garden I could have taken a picture of the female pheasant who has taken up residence....

And a view of some roofs taken this afternoon when it had eventually stopped snowing...

I'm hoping that it doesn't all turn to ice over the weekend as I'm meant to be going to back to the house without water & heating for the final clear out.... Cotswolds in the snow very pretty unless you are girls on a mission with at least a one and half hour drive to get there !!!

The weather has given me the chance to sit and knit most of the day :-)
Nearly finished a jumper I can't show...
And done another couple of repeats of Tina's inside, only three more until I have to pick up stitches...

Now I have set myself a stash busting challenge of not buying any more yarn until I've finished 4 garments for me, I've got the ends to sew in on a cowl neck warmer so that is one down, only three more to do....

Saturday Sky

Saturday sky or should that be fog...

I dont think this is going to clear all day, and it's so cold out there so I'm staying infront of the fire with the rubgy....
